CBB Returns: 5th Annual Chicago Bluegrass & Blues Fest to call Concord Music Hall & City Winery home, Span 3 Weeks!

Chicago Bluegrass & Blues Festival is ready to celebrate its 5th birthday.  The wintertime roots fest returns this January with a 17-show format more reminiscent of a film festival than of past incarnations. CBB V is anchored in eight shows over three weeks at the newly-minted Concord Music Hall, the West Loop’s City Winery, and Evanston’s SPACERusted Rootand Justin Townes Earle make their first CBB appearance, whileDavid Grisman return for his 3rd, this time with two nights as the David Grisman JazzFolk Trio. The fest kicks off January 10th with Leagues and The Autumn Defense (feat. John Stirratt & Pat Sanson of Wilco) at Concord Music HallJonathan Batiste brings a dose of New Orleans, Greensky Bluegrass brings the unique brand of bluegrass, andEddy “The Chief” Clearwater channels 60 years of Chicago blues experience. Local showcases at Tonic Room adorn nights throughout.

Aiming to showcase the musical styles that have evolved from bluegrass and blues culture, CBB was born in 2008 of a collaboration between Mike RaspatelloSilver Wrapper and React Presents.
