Bill Nershi (String Cheese Incident) has joined forces to with Portland native Scott Law to form the Nershi-Law Duo. The pair will perform original music and classics from a variety of genres. Nershi/Law will be joined by Chicagoland favorite Van Ghost. VG's Michael Berg will perform acoustic and will feature renowned vocalist Jennifer Hartswick among other performances from various friends of the Van Ghost family. Americana bluegrass with just the slightest twist, Nershi-Law contemporizes the story-telling tradition at the heart of this country's best acoustic music while paying impressive homage to the genre. Nershi adds a unique and colorful perspective with his enthusiasm and playful spirit creating an interactive, participatory experience for musicians and fans alike. Bill's tight flat-picking and paradoxically strong, yet vulnerable vocals mesh nicely with ScottŐs clear harmonies, contrapuntal rhythms and searing guitar breaks. Billy & Scott quite simply have such a great time playing together that it brings joy to anyone within earshot. Van Ghost
For nearly a decade Michael Harrison Berg of Van Ghost was a behind the scenes type of guy. Having poured his energy into his ventures as a concert promoter and band manager, little was left over for personal creative endeavors. That all changed in 2007 when Berg's close friends encouraged him to revisit the acoustic guitar he put down in his younger days and asked him to perform a song at their wedding. Melding the inspiration from the many talented bands he has worked with and his own passion for music, the singer returned to his roots. He began writing songs, drawing from his life experiences, creating a heartfelt and staggeringly honest perspective. After building up a solid repertoire of folk ballads, gritty alt country tunes and classic rock laced jams, Berg assembled an all-star cast of musicians and named the project Van Ghost.
