Future Rock - October 6, 2007 For the members of FUTURE ROCK, the ingredients for tomorrow's sound read something like this: catchy beats, creative covers and, of course, copious amounts of live performances. This young, electrifying Chicago-based band has quickly reached the top of the livetronica scene's current class thanks in part to its creative covers (i.e. Arcade Fire's "Rebellion (Lies)" to Royksopp's "Remind Me" ("the GEICO song"), but mostly from their live shows. FR has steadily developed a refined and distinctive sound along with a dedicated following during their journey. Their live show, which is filled with techno-beams, laser lights, and smoke machines you experience a sensory overload resembling a rave, and quite possibly the greatest dance party you've ever been to. The Abbey Pub houses the CD release party for FUTURE ROCK's forthcoming October 2 album release, GEARS, on Harmonized Records in hometown fashion. This album finds the Chicago trio centering in on their unique, explosive dance-rock sound that has captured audiences nationwide. They've blown the roof of this place before, and we expect nothing less for this one. The musical lineup for this one is STACKED! EOTO will be on hand for an opening set. If ya didn't know, EOTO is the live electronic improv project of String Cheese Incident's Michael Travis, who plays a mulititued of instruments in this project, and Jason Hann, who handles the drumming for EOTO. Always entertaining ORCHARD LOUNGE is on hand for pre, post, and set-break dance grooves. Don't sleep on this one!
